Cairns, Australia
We partnered with Apollo Motorhome Holiday for an epic road trip along the Queensland coast from Cairns to Brisbane. 1,045 miles.
Meet our home for the next 12 days! We've named him Ollie and we're excited for all the adventures we're taking him on (or he's taking us on!?) during our time in Australia.
Our road trip was off to a pretty good start with a visit to Thala Beach Nature Reserve and our first sunrise at Palm Cove. I wish every morning started with cappuccinos and a walk on the beach…
Of course, The Great Barrier Reef has been on both of our bucket lists. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day on the water in Cairns - blue skies, crystal clear waters, and a relaxing sail boat. We made two stops, which gave us plenty of time to explore the reef and all the ocean life. Hailey even spotted a sting ray hiding under the sand!
We took a break from the coast and drove Ollie through the scenic Atherton Tablelands as we quickly made our way South.
Waterfalls - Danny's favorite! And Australia has some good ones! Some more difficult to reach than others, but that just means less tourists and more time for us to enjoy them on our own.
After Hailey's leech incident in Sri Lanka, you would think she would stay far, far away from tea plantations, but we were told to visit the Nerada Tea Factory and it was worth the stop. A tea plantation maze for miles!
Our road trip through Queensland was just getting started, but already flying by…
