Serengeti, Tanzania
Hakuna mutata! The Serengeti truly is the real life Lion King. The only worry we had was how our bodies would ever recover from the bumpy six-hour ride in... But it didn't take long to realize it was worth it!
Our Acacia Africa tour guide said we lucked out with all we saw in the park, but we have a feeling he was simply trying to make us feel special and this was just your regular day in the Serengeti.
Our top sights included: four lioness, which we barely spotted from the main road because they were basically camouflaged into the grass.
A young male lion taking a snooze on a rock overlooking his territory.
And Elephants within ten feet of our safari truck to say hello.
Oh, and who can forget the leopard that posed for us!
The Serengeti wins for best sunset! We had our safari truck pull over, so we could take in this amazing view. Africa is really killin' the sunset game!
We won't let the sunset take all the glory though. Seeing the sunrise over the Serengeti and spotting wildlife with Serengeti Balloon Safaris was one of our favorite parts of this trip!
It also could have been the two bottles of champagne we drank after ;)
We spent two nights camping in a tent in the Serengeti and nearby Ngorongoro Crater... Like in the middle of the park, no fence with wild animals around us! A walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night?? We didn't risk it...
