Big Sur, California
Big Sur was actually one of our very first dates! Since then, we’ve been back a number of times and fall in love more and more each time - how could you not!? If you’re lucky enough to visit, you don’t want to miss these spots:
Visit McWay Falls. It's a short walk off the main road. This is one of our favorite views!
Bixby Bridge because you can't cross the bridge without taking in this view first!
Pfeiffer State Park to see Keyhole Arch. We went here for sunset one evening and saw whales breaching through the keyhole. It's a popular spot, so be ready to hold your ground with the other photographers trying to get 'the shot'.
Stay in a yurt at Treebones Resort. It's a little pricey and there's a two night minimum, but it's worth the experience! PSA: Windy nights cause for noise! Bring the extra bottle of wine to help you sleep...
Unfortunately, we don't have any photos, but stop by for lunch and a drink at Nepenthe. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and is great for whale watching! Unless you're Hailey, then you're just unlucky...
If you're driving down from the North, it's worthwhile to stop through Carmel. It's a sleepy town, but filled with wine tasting rooms, galleries, cafes/bakeries, shops, restaurants. And just North of Carmel is the 17 mile drive, which offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. If you're looking to get out and stretch, hike around the gorgeous Point Lobos!
